Chelsea got off to a winning start in their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 victory over Club America on Wednesday night. Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku, and Ben Chilwell were on target for the Blues, who took the lead twice in the first half but were pegged back on both occasions by their Mexican opponents.
Maatsen opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, firing home from close range after Gallagher had found him with a low cross. However, Club America equalized just five minutes later through a fine individual effort from Salvador Reyes.
