Chennedy Carter Released by Los Angeles Sparks

Former All-Star Guard Seeks Third Team

Los Angeles Sparks guard Chennedy Carter has been waived by the team, marking her second departure from a WNBA franchise in less than a year. The Sparks acquired Carter from the Atlanta Dream prior to the 2022 season in exchange for a first-round draft pick.

Carter, a former All-Star, has a reputation for both her scoring prowess and her on-court challenges. She has been involved in several incidents during her WNBA career, including a recent Flagrant 1 foul committed against Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever.

The Sparks' decision to release Carter comes after a disappointing 2023 season in which the team finished with a 13-21 record and missed the playoffs. Carter averaged 10.9 points and 3.3 assists per game last season.

It remains to be seen where Carter will play next. She has reportedly drawn interest from several WNBA teams, including the New York Liberty and Dallas Wings.
